There are several local action groups and networks in the SA/NT region. If you would like to find out more about these groups please contact see the links on the right hand side of this page.
About Action Networks
Networks connect individuals who share a common interest, identity or expertise relevant to Amnesty International's (AI) campaigns. Some networks meet face-to-face whilst others rely mainly on email as their form of communication. Networks link AI members and staff in coordinating and carrying out human rights campaigns in SA/NT.
About Local Action Groups
Local groups are about bringing AI supporters together in their local area to share their passion for justice and human rights and live in their local area to work for human rights. All AI supporters are encouraged to join a local group based in their everyday community.
Our local groups carry out some of the most important work of AI: raising awareness of human rights in the Australian community and giving people, regardless of where they live, the chance to get involved and make a difference.
Local groups usually meet once a month. By joining a local group you could be involved in:
- organising events and stalls
- letter writing campaigns
- campaigning on behalf of prisoners of conscience
- working on key campaigns
- meeting with local MPs
- working with local media
- raising awareness about human rights in your community.
If you are interested in being involved in a local group, please contact the Convenor via the groups' webpage (details on right) or if you are interested in starting a group in your area, get in touch with the Commmunity Campaigner SA/NT.
