About Volunteering

Amnesty International is an organisation founded on volunteers. Without these passionate, dedicated individuals we would be unable to achieve human rights impact across Australia and around the globe. Volunteer work is available in many areas, from support work to decision-making and participating in activist consultations. Tasks range from general office administration duties to coordinating a major campaign or event.

One of the best ways to find out more about volunteering at Amnesty International is to attend one of our monthly information sessions. At these sessions current volunteer roles and projects are outlined together with all the different opportunities for getting involved in and taking action on human rights.

So what kinds of things can you become involved in if you would like to volunteer with us right now? :

1. Local Action Groups / Specialist Action Networks / Campus / School based campaign and event coordination.

2. Support Human Rights Events and Campaigns: There are regular events and campaigning activities happening state-wide and attending any of these is a good opportunity to support the work of AIA and gain an introduction to AIA TAS activism and volunteering.

4. Tasmanian Action Centre office-based volunteering: Available volunteer positions are regularly posted on this page. Administrative support, event coordination and campaign organisation work takes place during office hours Tuesday to Thursday at the TAS Action Centre in Hobart.
