Su Su Nway, member of opposition party National League for Democracy (NLD), was arrested in November 2007 for taking part in peaceful anti-government protests.

She is serving an eight and a half year sentence in a prison over 2,000km away from her family.

Burmese prisoners rely on their families to supplement their food rations and supply any medical requirements. While Su Su Nway suffers from a congenital heart condition and high blood pressure, the distance makes it very difficult for her family to visit and deliver her necessary food and medicine. She is in urgent need of medical attention.

Su Su Nway is one of over 2,000 prisoners of conscience in Burma. Send an email to Burmese President U Thein Sein (c/o Mr Paw Lwin Sein, Ambassador to Australia), calling for her immediate release.
