Push for youth justice reform in QLD
In April the Queensland Government will present a Bill to help reduce the impact of our failing justice system on kids. They don't have the numbers to pass this Bill on their own so now is the time for you to put pressure on the opposition to support it.
Act now and call on the Shadow Attorney General to support Queensland's Youth Amendment Bill.
Right now Queensland is the only state that locks up 17-year-old kids in adult prisons. The names of kids who are repeat offenders are published and their court hearings are open to the public.
Indigenous kids are worst affected by this, making up two-thirds of the 10 to 16-year-olds behind bars.
The proposed Youth Amendment Bill is a start in fixing some of these damaging aspects of Queensland's faulty youth justice system.
