About ACT Southern NSW
About Amnesty International in the ACT and Southern NSW
AIA in ACT/S-NSW aims to harness the skills, energy and passion of people in our region to work together in defending and protecting human rights.
In ACT/S-NSW there is a growing number of AIA supporters working in different ways to defend human rights. There are local groups throughout regional NSW, who meet regularly, organise events and campaign on human rights in their local areas.
In addition, our teams there are also numerous issue based networks which campaign on things like ‘Stop violence against women’ (SVAW), an Urgent Actions letter writing network, a recently established Youth Network, a LGBTQI - Sexuality Based Discrimination unit and the a team working to abolish the Death Penalty. Various teams also have a vital role in the work of Amnesty, such as the website team, the communications team and the speakers & community outreach team.
