Gay Rights As Human Rights Speakers Forum And Discussion

Amnesty in conjunction with Queer Collaborations, the National Queer Student Conference, will be hosting a speaker’s forum on gay rights as human rights.
Speakers will address the historic struggle for gay rights and present struggle for gay rights, focusing on both the Australian situation and the situation abroad. Participants will have the chance to ask questions following the presentations.
The speakers will be:
- Dr David West, ANU
- David Mills, AIDS Action Council
- Bede Carmody, Amnesty Community Campaigner ACT/Southern NSW
The Amnesty ACT/SNSW LGBTI network will be present and participants will have the opportunity to sign letters of action on the gay rights situation abroad and get more information on the network.
Time: The forum will commence at 6pm and finish at 7:15pm, following which there will be a brief candlelight vigil for victims of homophobia.
