Volunteer
Amnesty International is a worldwide movement driven by its members, activists, volunteers and donors. AI is independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion and does not accept any funding from government bodies, so it relies on people like you to drive it forward and achieve change in the world.
Whether you have a day a week or a day a year, you can become involved in Amnesty's work to defend human rights globally!

Volunteer vacancies
LGBTQI Assistant
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate and capable volunteer to work with the community campaigner and existing LGBTQI convenor to organise and implement LGBTQI action campaigns.
This role will involve advocacy on LGBTQI issues through organising public events, conducting research for action alerts and awareness campaigns, creating petitions, speaking at public forums, media relations, youth advocacy at universities and schools and online advocacy with other Amnesty LGBTQI campaigners across Australia. As a relatively new action network, we are in the stages of developing our team of supporters and activists. Thus, engaging new LGBTQI rights defenders and creating action plans to develop this growing network will be integral part of the role.
While the current focus and future plans of the network revolve around the core themes of Decriminalising Homosexuality (including the Death Penalty), Discrimination and Equality, and Homosexuality in Rural Communities, you will also have the opportunity to make your own mark and run your own campaigns.
The role is Canberra based and you should be available one or two afternoons a week at our AI Action Centre (mutually agreed day with the current convenor). You should be available to commence as soon as possible and begin working on our current Homosexuality in Rural Communities campaign.
