Twenty five years of state killings by lethal injection
We have released a new report on the legal and ethical implications of the practice of lethal injection as part of our campaign for the worldwide abolition of the death penalty. Since 1982, at least 1,000 people have been executed by lethal injection globally - in Guatemala, Thailand, the Philippines, more than 900 in the USA, and it is estimated there have been several thousands more in China, where executions are a state secret.

UN votes to halt executions
In October, the UN General Assembly will consider a resolution calling for a global moratorium on executions, after 95 states signed or joined a statement presented by the European Union at the December 2006 session. The resolution calls on states that still maintain the death penalty to abolish it completely and, in the meantime, to establish a moratorium on executions.
