Execution stopped: Sayed Perwiz Kambaksh
The Appeal Court of Kabul overturned student journalist Sayed Perwiz Kambaksh's death sentence on 21 October, but sentenced him to 20 years' imprisonment.
There were no legal grounds for his conviction, the death sentence or the prison sentence. Amnesty International will be campaigning for his release through longer-term methods.

I hope that Australia is bringing diplomatic pressure to bear in the fight against this prehistoric legislation.
