Amnesty International’s ARTillery Youth Arts Festival is back for 2009, and bigger than ever. During the festival, young people in Perth will use ART as their ARTillery to fight for human rights, while attending local multi-art events. ARTillery will run from the 10th of November to the 10th of December (International Human Rights Day) at venues across Perth. The festival, run by young activists, aims to educate and inspire young people to take action on human rights issues.
This year, ARTillery includes everything from theatre, music, visual art to spoken word performances:

ARTillery Bootcamp is back to fight for a Human Rights Act! Come down to HQ Leederville for an afternoon of street art workshops, digeridoo, hip hop dance leading up to live music from locals The Jackards, Wing-It, Stunning in Red and Last in Line. Five of WA’s hottest female-fronted bands come together on Saturday 21st of November 2009 to raise awareness about Amnesty International’s campaign to Stop Violence Against Women - Boys! Boys! Amnesty International and Cottonmouth bring you local spoken word artists using their craft to Demand Dignity for Indigenous Australians. Poets will consider, debators will contend, storytellers will weave, mc’s will wax lyrical, songwriters will play and activists will proclaim! The masterPEACE art exhibition is back! Witness the process of investigation, creation and installation as 10 artists take over 214 William Street in an artistic exploration of what it could mean to Demand Dignity.
