Join a local action group in your suburb, school or interest area

  • Published on 24/01/2012

Come along to your local action group and find out how together we are a movement of ordinary people working together to achieve extraordinary change.

Your local action group is the best place to meet people, get involved and help defend human rights.

Action groups usually meet once a month. By joining a group you can start helping Amnesty International defend human rights by:

  • organising events and stalls
  • letter writing campaigns
  • campaigning on behalf of prisoners of conscience
  • working on key campaigns
  • meeting with local MPs
  • working with local media
  • raising awareness about human rights in your community.

Find an action group near you to start getting involved, contribute your individual skills and expertise, or simply join the conversation.

If you're attending university you can also find your action group at the O-Week stalls at any of these universities:

  • Macquarie University
  • Sydney University
  • University of New South Wales
  • University of New England
  • Wollongong University
  • University of Western Sydney
  • Charles Sturt University, Bathurst
  • University of Newcastle
