The ALP National Conference is being held this Thursday 30 July at 12 noon and the Stop the Intervention Collective Sydney needs your support in joining the chorus of voices calling on the Labor Party to end the failed NT Intervention.

The recent report from the Productivity Commission on Indigenous disadvantage was a shocking indictment of Aboriginal disadvantage and the failure of the Howard government and the NT Intervention. The poverty and oppression faced by Aboriginal people have actually worsened since 2001. The consistent attacks on Aboriginal organisations and denial of rights is directly to blame - the report calls for an end to 'top-down' directives from government and the empowerment of communities.

Pressure is growing to recognise that the Intervention has failed and that it has trampled on Aboriginal rights in the process. There are growing demands for a real break with the Howard era. On July 30, trade unions, Labor party branches, Labor delegates will be bringing flags and banners along to this public lobby to call for justice and real change.

The Stop the Intervention Collective Sydney are calling on the Labor Party to: *stop the Blackmail and stop the NT Intervention * re-instate the Racial Discrimination Act, because racism is not a 'special measure' * grant land rights not leases * not take-over the Alice Springs town camps * defend the homelands by funding and providing services for all communities now * make jobs, not cuts to the CDEP.
