Coffs Harbour is celebrating the annual Harmony Day, by holding its Multicultural Harmony Festival on Sunday 21 March. The festival is a celebration of Coffs Harbour's multicultural diversity, with food, music, performances and more. The theme for the festival is 'living in harmony united as one community'. Appropriately, Coffs Harbour has a long history as a migrant and refugee settlement area and is now officially a migrant settlement city. Amnesty International Australia is supporting the event and the local Amnesty Coffs Harbour Action Group will be holding a stall promoting human rights issues such as the ongoing detention of children on Christmas Island, the suspension of the racial discrimination laws in the Northern Territory and the protection of migrant workers in Australia.
