The screening is held in support of Amnesty International Australia’s Homelands report released in August.

Organisers encourage Eastern Suburbs residents with an interest in Amnesty and Indigenous issues to come along and find out more about what Amnesty International Australia is doing to defend the rights of Indigenous Peoples.

“If ever Australia had an Inconvenient Truth, this is it. Our Generation is a highly emotional, powerful journey into territory that we have chosen too long to ignore. This is a film every Australian needs to see.” Cathy Henkel (director of The Burning Season).

Awarded the ‘Best Campaign Film’ prize at this year’s London International Documentary Festival, Our Generation focuses on the Australian Aboriginal struggle for their land, culture and freedom – a story that has been silenced by the Australian Government and mainstream media. Driven by the remote Yolngu people of Northeast Arnhem Land, one of the last strongholds of traditional Aboriginal culture in Australia, accompanied by the voices of national indigenous leaders, historians and human rights activists, the film explores the ongoing clash of cultures that is threatening to wipe out the oldest continuing culture in the world.
