Forest Group

We are involved in letter writing and campaigning on a broad range of human rights issues. We are a diverse group from the local community who are always looking for new members.
WHO
The Forest Group of Amnesty International (AI) in NSW is a group of dedicated people, drawing members from Forestville and nearby suburbs. We also have continuing members who no longer live in Sydney but keep in contact by email and participate in events and functions. The membership of the group is longstanding (the first meeting was on 11 September, 1989).
WHAT DO WE DO
The group meets to get involved with defending and protecting human rights. We do this by:
• participating in events and activities such as Stop Violence Against Women
• holding information stalls
• responding to ‘urgent actions’ by writing letters/emails
• campaigning for individuals at risk
We also hold annual events to raise funds for Amnesty: i) sponsored Walkathon/picnic ii) a theatre party – past event have included Keating: The Musical and The Wharf Revue and others, usually held at the Glen St Theatre, Belrose.
