University of Wollongong
This year our focus is on Refugees, The War on Terror, and the Stop Violence Against Women Campaign.
The Amnesty International Society at Wollongong University is composed of students who are dedicated to the work of Amnesty International and the support of human rights. We meet fortnightly to write Urgent Action appeals for the defence of human rights worldwide, as well as to learn about, debate and discuss current human rights issues. The Amnesty Society is for anyone who would like to meet like-minded students and have fun in the process. This year our focus is on Refugees, The War on Terror, and the Stop Violence Against Women Campaign.
Past Events
We hold a regular stall on Market Days, as well as participate in Wollongong University functions such as the Social Awareness BBQ. In 2004 one the Society’s many successes was an event to mark the anniversary of the Tampa incident and raise awareness of refugee issues.
