The Springwood/Blaxland Action Group have moved from the virtual to the physical realm. We now have real face-to-face meetings...

The group usually meets on the third Tuesday of the month, alternating in Springwood and Blaxland. Sometimes we have interesting guest speakers at our meetings; at other times we write letters and plan strategies for raising consciousness about human rights in the community.

We are currently working on the Refugee Campaign and for Fr Nguyen Van Ly and other prisoners of conscience in Vietnam.

A roving meeting of the NSW Branch Committee will be held at the Springwood Sports Club, Macquarie Road, Springwood on Saturday 26th of March from 11 am – 3 pm. During lunch from 12-1, Mary Fonah will be the guest speaker. Mary is a refugee from Sierra Leone who was ultimately a midwife in a refugee camp before her long journey to Australia.

Change in meeting day for the month of April

Please note that for April only, the Springwood/Blaxland meeting will be held on the third Monday, rather than the third Tuesday of the month. This will be Monday the 18th April at 8 pm in the Springwood Neighbourhood Centre. Guest speakers will be Donna Mulhearn and Martin Reusch. They will report on their recent trip to Afghanistan to attend a anti-violence demonstration in Kabul. This was organised by Afghans for Peace to coincide with the Iranian/Afghan New Year on the 21st of March.
