We are a diverse group of activists and friends of Amnesty committed to raising awareness of human rights issues, generating action to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights and demanding justice for those whose rights have been violated. We meet regularly to discuss current issues and to coordinate upcoming activities within the local area aimed at raising awareness and fundraising. We also have an established Casefile; 'Women's Rights Defenders'.
If you live, work or like to visit the Sutherland Shire please get in touch. We welcome new members to our group or if you wanted to keep up to date about our events - we would love to hear from you!
We meet once a month to discuss, take action and coordinate various efforts to generate more public awareness about these issues.

WHAT WE DO:
Since forming in late 2009 the Sutherland shire action group has organised an array of events including numerous film screenings, community stalls, dinners and picnics. We hope to continue these successful events to engage more people with human rights issues. In particular we pride our community picnics which build more positive relationships in order to create a more welcoming Sutherland shire.
Our Community Picnics:
- Sutherland Writes for Rights (30/11/2014)
- Sutherland stands strong on asylum seekers (16/05/2014)
- Introducing Order of Australia recipient Judith Quilter (15/05/2014)
- Age is no barrier when defending human rights (10/04/2013)
- St George and Sutherland Shire Action Group News (04/03/2013)
