Amnesty International’s Stop Violence Against Women (SVAW) campaign brings together people who are passionate about ending the most widespread abuse in the world. In Australia, up to 57 per cent of women have experienced some form of violence, yet there is currently no national plan to deal with this problem.
In the lead up to the Federal Budget release in May, Amnesty International’s SVAW action group has been working to increase public awareness of the need for a sustainably funded national plan of action (NPoA) to stop violence against women.
Volunteers and activists have been hitting the streets talking to people and hundreds have already signed petitions that will be mailed to government officials.
