Picturing Human Rights is a 272-page full-colour book compiled in response to the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The editorial board sought to evaluate the success of this declaration for all human beings regardless of race, religion, gender, age and ethnicity, and to expose the stories of those who have fallen through the cracks of this most noble vision.
The 19 stories featured in Picturing Human Rights report on human rights abuses occurring worldwide that are rarely featured in mainstream publications. The Australian PhotoJournalist prides itself on publishing such stories and giving a voice to those who do not have an opportunity to speak out against abuse.
The result is a powerful collection of visual stories about the survivors of perpetual abuse in our global community. These personal stories are moving, engaging, inspiring and put into perspective our own privileges our own sense of social responsibility.
The Australian PhotoJournalist is a non-profit publication. Each edition is put together by a volunteer editorial board and our contributors donate their work so that these stories are told. All proceeds go straight back into covering the cost of producing the next edition. We seek your support to continue to publish the journal and to tell stories that do make a difference. In addition, we have many exciting projects on the horizon in an attempt to create more dialogue, and to publish more stories.
