The Helen Black Group (The Gap)

We are a letter-writing group that operates in The Gap, Brisbane

Although we are a small group we are committed to awareness raising within our community. We are also committed to the support of Parvez Choudhry, human rights lawyer in Lahore, Pakistan. We first learned of the work of Parvez through an Urgent Action several years ago and are in regular contact with him. He has become our major project.

Past events:

• Barbeques at Parliament House
• Fundraising recipe books
• Local morning teas with human rights speakers.

Plans for 2009:

• Stop Violence against Women Morning Tea with Meeta Iyer as a guest speaker.

Meetings:

Every 2nd Monday at 9am, St Mark's Parish Centre, Cnr Waterworks Road and Kullaroo Street, The Gap.
