QLD/ N.NSW Women’s Network

We are a team of activists working on Amnesty International's Women's Rights Campaigns

The Queensland/ Northern New South Wales Women's Network is committed to raising awareness and campaigning towards positive changes in women's human rights around the world. We focus on the protection of the rights of women within Australia and around the world, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. We campaign to gain recognition of the responsibility of governments to provide adequate protection for women.

Past Actions:

• Stitch by Stitch textiles exhibition celebrating International Women's Day (March 2011)
• Stopping the Violence Against Women PNG (November 2010)

Plans for 2011:

• Domestic Worker's/ Reproductive Rights' Dinner on Saturday 21 May 2011 from 7-10pm at Makanan Resturant, 59 Hardgrave Road, West End.

Get Involved!

There’s a number of ways to get involved in the network. These include attending events, volunteering on stalls, assisting in event planning as well as engaging in advocacy and lobbying. To get involved please email Jodie or just turn up to one of our meetings.

Weekly Meetings:

Every Tuesday at 11am-12pm at the Brisbane Action Centre, Level 1, 354 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley

Monthly Meetings:

First Thursday of the month at 6pm-7pm at the Brisbane Action Centre, Level 1, 354 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley
