Townsville

The Townsville group works on a Letter writing campaign and organised very active protests regarding Guantanamo Bay. It is also planning some activities this year as part of the Demand Dignity Campaign

Past actions:

• First Friday in Orange – a campaign seeking justice for prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.
• Stand Up for Poverty – as part of the Make Poverty History campaign.
• Thursday 25 March: rally to Close the Gap 8am and 8.30am.
• Thursday 25 March: free film night on Thursday 25 March at 7pm 'CALL + RESPONSE'

Plans for 2010:

• Tuesday 22 June: World Refugee Week Workshops: at the Townsville Multicultural Support Group 63 Ross River Rd Mundingburra. Breakfast Workshop - 7am Breakfast and 7.45am Workshop & Evening Workshop - 5pm Hot Soup and 5.45pm Workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to explore several themes around the topic of refugees and human rights. To book email tmsg@beyond.net.au or phone 4775 1588
• Friday 2 July: First Friday in Red and Yellow in support of Refugees and asylum seekers. Meet outside Peter Lindsay's office from 8am-8:30am.
