Brisbane City Group
The group is involved in campaigning, fundraising holding stalls and events, and letter writing.
The Brisbane City Group was founded in 1993 by five passionate people who shared a commitment to human rights. The group values collaboration, inclusion, and energetically promotes human rights work at a local level.
We welcome new members!
Past events:
The Brisbane City Group has always been a part of Amnesty's ongoing campaign to assist individuals detained in violation of their human rights through letter-writing within the group and running stalls at venues like the West End markets to obtain signatures in support of human rights causes.
Over the years the group has also organized fundraising activities such as trivia nights and film nights.
Plans for 2011:
- Building our human rights knowledge, with monthly guest speakers "teach-ins" by group members;
- Letter writing;
- Monthly attendance at the West End markets with letters or petitions; and
- Fundraising through trivia nights.
Meetings:
- Every second Wednesday at 6pm - 7pm. Come along and join this fantastic group of people in their actions to improve human rights for all individuals.
