On Saturday 28 May 2011, the Gold Coast group held a cocktail evening at the Bond University Club as part of the Taste of Freedom, celebrating Amnesty International’s 50th birthday.

Thousands of refugees are in mandatory detention in Australia, waiting for a resolution. It is time to demand the end of mandatory detention and the release of all children living in detention centres.

On the 14 May 2011 Amnesty International Queensland and Northern New South Wales celebrated their Branch Annual General Meeting (BAGM) at the Kurilpa Hall to speak about our Branch's achievements during 2010 and vote in the new 2011 committee.

On the first Friday of every month, members of the Townsville Amnesty International group and fellow supporters gather outside the local member’s office. Dressed in red and yellow, they stand united on a busy street corner, hoping to make politicians and the community aware of the plight of refugees and asylum seekers in Australia.

On 26 March at Reddacliff Place in Brisbane, volunteers and the public gathered to participate in The Refugee Journey.
