Shadowland

12 June 2007, 12:14PM

shadowland

Amnesty International Australia is proud to bring you Shadowland, an online photo exhibition that tells the stories of four refugees now living in Australia.

These stories were collected in interviews during 2004 and, after years of uncertainty, all four refugees featured in this exhbition now hold permanent protection visas.

Their stories, experiences and treatment are very similar to those faced by many refugees living in Australia today, and will also be pertinent to future refugees arriving in Australia without correct documentation.

Shadowland uses photo narratives to offer a powerful statement on the dignity and resilience shown by refugees. The limbo in which they have been living has become a deeper shadowland of uncertainty as they are forced onto open-ended rolling visas.
