Amnesty International SA/NT and Adelaide PEN invite you to an evening of fine writing and spirited conversation featuring writers Dylan Coleman, Erica Jolly and Nicholas Jose. Highly-regarded Adelaide actor Kate Englefield will perform readings as chosen by the featured writers.

Dylan Coleman won the 2011 David Unaipon Award for Unpublished Indigenous Writers at the Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards for ‘Mazin’ Grace, the story of her mother growing up on the Koonibba Mission in the 1940s and 50s. UQP will publish ‘Mazin Grace in September. Dylan’s story of her father was shortlisted for the same award.

Erica Jolly’s books include Pomegranates: poems (2003) and Challenging the divide: approaches to science and poetry (2010), and she is a Friendly Street regular. She taught for 40 years, first as a history teacher and, after her experiences in England, as a teacher of English Literature. Erica once published a poem called ‘Response to a telephone call telling me my poems are too political’.

Nicholas Jose’s many books include the novels Original Face (2005) and Avenue of Eternal Peace (1989) and the memoir Black Sheep: Journey to Borroloola (2002). He was general editor of The Macquarie PEN Anthology of Australian Literature. Nick is a longtime and active member of PEN.

Kate Englefield has worked on many local independent films, including lead roles in 'Aurora’, ‘I, Rot’, ‘A Nun, a Gun and a Prostitute’, ‘Hot Chilli Night’ and ‘Late Cubism’. This year Kate will appear in a number of different roles in the new SBS TV series ‘Danger 5’.
