About Tas
Branch Committee
The Branch Committee is the organising and coordinating committee for AIA in Tasmania. The committee has a wide range of responsibilities - including planning for the branch for the year, supporting and encouraging activists and members, and supporting and coordinating campaigning and events throughout the branch. The committee has up to 12 positions; which are elected each year at our Branch AGM. Committee meetings are held in the Action Centre on the first Tuesday of the month.
We have four staff members in Tasmania, Amy Barrett (Manager of Community Campaigns), Annalisa Rigby (Community Campaigner), Rodney Dillon (Indigenous Campaigner), and Louise Durose (Regional Administration Officer).
AIA Hobart Action Center
The Tasmanian Action Centre (AC) is the local point of contact between the people of Tasmania and AIA's campaigns.
Amnesty International (AI) is a world wide membership-led movement of over 2.8 million supporters. Our purpose is to defend and promote Human Rights and to raise awareness of Human Rights violations in Australia and throughout the world. Amnesty International Australia (AIA) has 70,000 members and supporters around the country.
There are many ways to get involved in AIA. You can join a group in your local area, or join a specialist network if you have a particular interest or skill. We are very much dependent on our numerous volunteers who dedicate a lot of their free time to working for AIA.
So no matter how much time you have, or what skills you possess, you can contribute to defending Human Rights.
