Elections occur once a year at the Branch Annual General Meeting (BAGM). All AIA TAS members are eligible to stand for election and to vote for the Branch Committee. The Committee's responsibilities include:
Leading and planning for :
- Developing an annual plan and budget for AIA TAS
- Approving events and campaign activities that AIA TAS members wish to undertake
- Representing AIA TAS within Amnesty International Australia and externally
- Overseeing the use of AIA TAS's resources
- Communicating with the National Executive Committee about matters that affect AI TAS or that are raised by AIA TAS members
Supporting and motivating members through:
- Providing member training and education

- Informing AIA TAS members about Amnesty International’s activities, policies and opportunities for involvement with AIA
Getting Involved
Branch Committee meetings are held monthly, in the Action Centre on the first Tuesday of each month. Becoming a member of the Tas Branch Committee is a simple process, and we welcome new members constantly to enrich the work of our Branch here in Hobart. Should you wish to get involved, please express your interest by contacting the Branch President.
Member Duties
Members of the Branch Committee should be prepared to attend each monthly meeting (by phone if necessary) and to be well-prepared by reading any papers provided before the meeting. Typically Branch Committee members will find themselves taking on board one or two mid-long term projects to develop over a period of months of the Committee’s life. The time involved is very flexible; it may vary from a few hours a week to a few hours a month depending on a committee member’s availability and interest. Contact Belinda Kendall-White (Branch President) for more information.
