Hobart Christmas Pageant 2009
- Published on 24/11/2009
On Saturday 21st November 2009 for the very first time The Hobart Women's Rights Team along with many activists and volunteers participated in the Hobart Christmas Pageant to wish all women and children a safe and happy Christmas with huge success. We would like to thank all who joined us at the Parade and all who waved and gave us a smile in the crowd. Even the rain couldn't keep our Christmas cheer away.
We had been preparing for this day for some time. The Action Centre had been alive with the buzz of making lanterns and decorating banners as the day approached. The king of the lanterns was Raja, many hard hours were spent cutting cardboard and applying tinsel with astounding results!

On the day we all met at the Action Centre for a few breakfast muffins before we set off. We were all very excited and looking forward to raising awareness. With t-shirts on and lanterns at the ready we made our way to the starting point and waited patiently for the parade to begin. We were all in high spirits and looking forward to greeting the crowd and displaying our message.

We were very fortunate on the day to have a wonderful brass band behind us who played fabulous versions of Christmas jingles. So we were able to dance our way around the Pageant displaying our message. So much fun was had by all!

Although on the day there were a few raindrops in the air everyone kept on smiling, kept and waving and successfully wished all women and children a safe and happy Christmas!
Once again thank you everyone who helped make it a wonderful day!
