On Friday 9 December 2011 the Tasmanian action centre held another successful Human Rights Week march, for our usual celebration of Human Rights Week.

The Human Rights Week march is held each year, close to the 10 December. It pays tribute to 10 December 1948, when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was brought into being 63 years ago.

On the day, Amnesty International supporters in Hobart teamed up with other concerned local organisations and marched through Hobart, carrying placards and thoroughly getting into the spirit of Human Rights Week.

Students from both Huonville High School and The Friends School also participated, with some students chanting about fair trade issues. The march culminated at the front lawns of Parliament House, where participants enjoyed an introductory speech and music from a couple of local musicians.

A successful day to end 2011 human rights on a high note.
