Tasmanian Refugee Rights Action Group

replace this text

Millions of people around the world flee persecution and conflict in their homelands to seek asylum in other countries and rebuild their lives.

The Tasmanian Refugee Rights Action Group work on issues surrounding refugees and asylum seekers, both in Australia and overseas. Our main focus for 2011 will be asulum seekers fleeing persecution to Australia. Ask yourself "what would you do to save your family?" Asylum seekers are not breaking any laws

  1. Seeking asylum is legal under Australian law
  2. More then 90 per cent of asylum seekers who come here by boat are genuine refugees
  3. In 2009, asylum seekers coming by boat were only 1 per cent of our total annual migration intake

For more information call the action centre on 03 6221 1000 or email on tasaia@amnesty.org.au or check out our campaign on refugee rights in Australia http://www.amnesty.org.au/refugees/comments/24019/

All are welcome to join us for one of our monthly meetings. We meet on the 1st Thursday of each Month from 5.30 to 7.00pm at the Tasmanian Action Centre.
