At Amnesty International in Hobart we are constantly looking for new volunteers to help us with our important work. We welcome anyone, with whatever skills they may bring to the workplace, as there is always plenty to do!

Amnesty International Tasmania celebrated an exciting first on 10 December 2011 when they launched the inaugural Human Rights Day lecture at University of Tasmania's Sandy Bay campus, featuring 2010 Australian of the Year Professor Patrick McGorry.

On 1 September 2011 Amnesty International, together with Support Association for Women of Afghanistan (SAWA), hosted visiting Afghan speaker Malalai Joya to speak on the current position of women in Afghanistan.

Radio Amnesty, Hobart's very own human rights radio show, hits the radio waves again for the new year starting 28 January!

On Friday 9 December 2011 the Tasmanian action centre held another successful Human Rights Week march, for our usual celebration of Human Rights Week.

On the 14th of May 2011, students from various Hobart schools & Amnesty International held a rally on Parliament House lawns in support of refugees.

As part of the general AI50 celebrations on the 28th of May to celebrate Amnesty's 50th birthday, Amnesty supporters held a gathering on Parliament lawns.

Amnesty campaigners joined with members of the public on Parliament House lawns to support the Human Rights of Indonesian women.
