we look at key Human Rights
issues both from an international and an
Australian perspective. In 2009 we bring
Human Rights home to you, with our focus on
Indigenous rights. The conference will
explore what Human Rights mean to you.

The program features Larissa Behrendt, Professor of Law and Director of Research at the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning at the University of Technology, Sydney, as our Special
Guest Speaker.
PROGRAM OUTLINE
Morning
- Welcome to Country
- Keynote speaker: Larissa Behrendt
- Panel: Amnesty International Campaigns, Demand Dignity (focussing on human rights and poverty and the Northern Territory Intervention) and Stop Violence Against Women
- Workshops on these campaigns
Lunch (12-1pm)
Afternoon
- Indigenous rights: a local perspective
- workshops including: taking action for human rights, Indigenous rights, what is Amnesty International, Urgent Actions/ letter-writing, building your Amnesty International school group
The conference will run from 9am-3pm and is free.
It will be held at the Fitzroy Town Hall.
Groups can attend either for the morning session, or for the whole day.
