John Anderson has championed the cause of human rights as a member of Amnesty International since 1962 -- the year of the organisation’s foundation in Australia, and was on the inaugural National Executive Committee. Throughout the years since, John has continued to make a major contribution to Amnesty and its work in many roles including as Victorian President and as member, leader and adviser of local groups.
We were privileged indeed to have one who can speak with John’s authority, knowledge and experience to address our special meeting marking the 50th Anniversary of Amnesty International.
