Western Australia Branch Activist Groups
![]()
This page provides information about WA branch's activist groups. We have Campaign Action Groups, Letter Writing Groups and Regional Groups. Groups meet regularly to plan activities and actions. Please click on links provided on the right panel to find out more about our activist groups.
Local Groups
Groups meet in Mount Lawley, Subiaco, and South Perth/Como. Letter writing activists generally meet at a cafe to sign letters as part of an Amnesty International urgent appeal.
Regional Groups
There are groups in Albany, Bunbury, Denmark and Margaret River. These regional groups raise human rights issues in their own community through actions such as fundraising events, stalls and networking. You can also speak to the WA Community Campaigner about establishing a group in your area.
Campaign Based Groups
Groups of activists meet to work together on a particular campaign. Current campaign groups are working on the following campaigns.
- Stop Violence Against Women
- Human Rights Act Group (Act Right)
Specialist Groups
In this category, we have
- Human Rights Group Reading Club
- Speaker's Network
- Urgent Actions Network
- WA Health and Human Rights Group
- Youth Action Network
Campus Groups
In Perth we have a University of Western Australia Group that builds awareness on campus of activism, human rights and Amnesty International's work. We also have a new University group @ Murdoch. If you are a student, you may wish to establish a Campus Group. You can talk to the WA Community Campaigner about this.
If you would like to find out more about these groups please contact the WA Action Centre at waaia@amnesty.org.au.
