UPDATE: Saudi authorities announced last year that women would be allowed to drive as of 24 June 2018. However, following the announcement, officials warned women human rights defenders to remain silent and not post on social media. We won’t allow authorities to silence women in Saudi Arabia – take action and share this action on social media!

The Saudi Arabian authorities have arrested Loujain, Iman and Aziza – three women who all led the successful campaign giving women the right to drive in Saudi Arabia.

They face up to 20 years behind bars just for their peaceful human rights work.

Loujain al-Hathloul, Iman al-Nafjan and Aziza al-Yousef have been detained since mid-May. Their arrest comes just weeks before the driving ban on women in Saudi Arabia is due to be lifted.

The three women are being denied any communication with the outside world and haven’t had any access to their families or legal representation since their arrest.

Following their arrest, the Saudi media ran a smear campaign, sharing pictures of the activists with the word ‘traitor’ stamped in red across their faces.

We have a small window of opportunity – as the women have yet to be charged or referred to trial. It’s extremely important to publicly pressure the Saudi Arabian authorities right now to release them.

There is still time to act – the women’s rights campaigners have not yet been charged. Call on the Saudi Arabian authorities to release them immediately.
