Sonia Dahmani is a Tunisian lawyer, media commentator and defender of human rights who has been fearlessly speaking out against Tunisia’s relentless crackdown on freedom.
On 11th of May 2024 masked policeman stormed the bar association and dragged Sonia away after she spoke about inhumane prison conditions and racism.
Sonia is now unjustly imprisoned in a “high-security” cell infested with rats, denied vital medical care, and sentenced to four years and two months for “spreading false news”. Sonia is at risk of authorities adding more charges to her sentence, of up to 20 years!
“Racism exists, I didn’t invent anything. And if I have to be imprisoned for saying so, so be it,” (Sonia Dahmani).
