The fight for First Nations justice continues – and it needs all of us
It’s been two years since the referendum on a Voice to Parliament. More than six million Australians voted Yes — for recognition, respect and a fairer future.
That’s six million people who refused to accept the status quo and chose to stand up for justice.
Since then, we’ve seen what happens when that call is ignored
Governments are lowering the age of criminal responsibility, bringing back spit hoods and suspending human rights protections.
It can feel overwhelming to watch punitive responses dominate the headlines — while real solutions like prevention, diversion and community are pushed aside.
That’s why now more than ever, your actions matter.

We’re excited to be gearing up to launch a new phase of this campaign in 2026 – with new ways to take action, connect with local activists and be a part of a nationwide movement for change. It’s our mission to build a groundswell of people power to show the Government that their “tough on crime” policies aren’t the answer.
Every signature, every conversation, every moment you’ve taken to act makes you an integral part of our movement – you are part of the movement that said yes to hope, respect and change and together, we are building the power to make it real.
We encourage you to turn toward your local community, because change starts with people like you showing up in whatever capacity you can. Join your local Amnesty activist group and go along to a local First Nations community event, sign a petition, or simply start a conversation in your neighbourhood.
Every action matters
Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 10 million people who take injustice personally. We are campaigning for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all – and we can only do it with your support.
