Sudan: What’s happening, and why it matters

Right now, Sudan is facing one of the world’s largest and most under-reported humanitarian crises.

That’s why we’re inviting you to join an online Amnesty International webinar to stand in solidarity with Sudanese communities, hear directly from people connected to the crisis, and better understand what is happening on the ground, how you can support and why it matters:

Date: Sunday, 15 February 2026
Time: 7pm, AEDT (4pm AWST)

Since 2023, ongoing conflict has killed tens of thousands of civilians. Entire communities have been wiped out. More than 12 million people have been forced to flee their homes. Hospitals, markets and displacement sites have been deliberately attacked. Satellite imagery has uncovered mass graves.

In places like Darfur and Kordofan, civilians are bearing the brunt of escalating violence. Amnesty International has documented deliberate attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militias on civilians and civilian infrastructure – acts that may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

And yet, Sudan remains largely absent from headlines, political debate, and international urgency. This silence is devastating.

In this webinar, you’ll:

  • Hear from Sudanese community voices
  • Understand what Amnesty International has documented about the escalating violence
  • Learn why civilians are being targeted and why accountability has failed so far
  • Explore what meaningful solidarity looks like beyond awareness
  • Find out how you can include Sudan in your advocacy and calls for action

Sudanese communities have been calling for protection and justice for far too long. By showing up, listening, and standing with them, we help break the silence that allows this crisis to continue.

Be a part of the conversation – register today. Together, we can help ensure Sudan is not forgotten.
