Israel continues its genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Last week, the United Nations Commission of Inquiry confirmed what Palestinians and human rights groups have long warned: Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. This finding echoes on Amnesty International’s 2024 research, which concluded that Israel is treating Palestinians in Gaza as subhuman… a crime of genocide.

Since October 2023, more than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed, including at least 17,400 children. Almost two million people have endured relentless bombardment, forced displacement, and the deliberate use of starvation as a weapon of war. Gaza’s health system has collapsed, humanitarian aid is being blocked, and entire families have been wiped out.

Just days later, in a historic moment 77 years in the making, Australia formally recognised the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly. Recognition is important, but on its own it is not enough.

The Australian Government has a legal and moral responsibility to prevent and punish genocide. By continuing military cooperation and arms transfers to Israel, and failing to hold its leaders accountable, Australia risks complicity in one of the gravest crimes under international law.

Demand them to:

  • Publicly recognise Israel is committing the crime of genocide.
  • Use all available diplomatic, legal, and economic measures to stop the ongoing atrocities and to ensure the immediate, sustained, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
  • Play its role to ensure Israel is held accountable for any war crimes and crimes against humanity, including imposing targeted sanctions against responsible Israeli civilian and military officials and Israeli commercial interests contributing to the genocide.
  • Ensure that Israel immediately complies with the measures ordered by the International Court of Justice, including; providing basic aid and humanitarian assistance, ending the unlawful occupation, and preventing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
  • Immediately halt the sale and transfer of arms, parts, and related assistance that may contribute to serious violations of international law.

The Labor Government has taken some long-overdue steps, but in the face of genocide, statements are not enough. The Australian Government must do more to stand on the right side of history. Email your MP now and demand real action to stop the genocide and deliver justice for Palestinians.
