Mr. Damisoa, a 48-year-old man, was appointed by Mayor Johnson Hadjicosta of Tsaramandroso in April 2023 as the area manager of a 117-hectare resettlement site in Tsaramandroso, which is a municipality located in the Boeny region of northwestern Madagascar. As the area manager, his role is critical. He works directly with local authorities to address any issues that arise within the resettlement site. His responsibilities include regularly checking the condition of the 33 huts that make up the settlement and reporting any problems that may need attention. The site, under the guidance of Tsaramandroso's mayor, serves a crucial purpose. Governor Mokthar Andriatomanga of the Boeny region has also designated it as a pilot project to address the growing crisis of drought-induced displacement. The Antandroy people, who are particularly affected by this crisis, arrive in the region in large numbers. According to the governor, around 100 Antandroy people flee their homes each week to escape the devastating drought-induced famine that have gripped their ancestral lands in the southern Androy region of Madagascar.
