Australians are willing and able to welcome new refugee neighbours into our communities. Call on Minister for Immigration Alan Tudge to improve the current Community Sponsorship Program, to create a safe and accessible path for refugees to Australia.
A safe and accessible Community Sponsorship Program will:
1. Limit costs to sponsors
2. Be additional to the Government-funded humanitarian intake
3. Provide adequate support and services
4. Allow community, family and businesses to act as sponsors; and
5. Not take places from others in need
More than 35,000 Australians, 32 local councils and 100 community leaders have already voiced their support for an improved sponsorship program.
