Freedom for the Wolf is an epic investigation into the modern, worldwide corruption of the democratic process. A true exploration of the very nature of freedom, the film skilfully explores the way in which radical changes to this idea are rapidly transforming the world.

Filmed over three years, this documentary deals with a range of important human rights issues. It explores how people from all walks of life – from Tunisian rappers to Indian comedians, and from America’s #BlackLivesMatter activists to Hong Kong’s students – are joining together to fight against dishonourable and unethical leaders. Their common enemy is governments that combine dictatorship and democracy, or what political scientists call “illiberal democracy”. Sociologist-turned-filmmaker Rupert Russell, has traversed the globe to investigate the people’s battle for freedom. The documentary features interviews with key counter-political players around the world and commentary from today’s most eminent scholars.

The Meaningful Movies team will be having a stall both before and after the screening, promoting Amnesty’s major campaigns with all relevant petitions available to sign.
