The Mount Lawley Group will hold a a stall at the Inglewood Night Markets focusing on four Write for Rights cases, joining Amnesty International activists around the globe to create change.

At the heart of Amnesty International is this idea: that we are at our most powerful when we stand together for human rights. This is what the annual Write for Rights campaign is all about – Amnesty supporters everywhere creating great change together.

The Inglewood Night Markets are held every Monday night throughout the summer months and transform Beaufort Street into a lively marketplace, attracting hundreds of people with a variety of food and other stalls. This year the group will focus on the following Write for Rights cases:

  • Shawkan, a journalist in Egypt, jailed for doing his job.
  • Fomusoh Ivo Feh, a student from Cameroon facing 20 years for an SMS
  • Eren Keskin, lawyer and former newspaper editor in Turkey, arrested over 100 times for speaking out
  • Máxima Acuña, a peasant farmer in northern Peru, attacked by police for speaking out.

Email us to come along and create change in the lives of these people, an be a part of something special.
