Over 2017 our Community is Everything campaign continues and Amnesty will launch our new Reconciliation Action Plan.  Our RAP is ambitious and includes our grassroots movement. Success for our campaign and our journey to reconciliation includes bringing you, our activists and action groups, our volunteers and our supporters along.

Part of our commitment to this work is to support our activists and action groups, volunteers and supports to develop/improve your cultural competency so that we can build respect and understanding between non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’. It is about being open to different cultural perspectives and working towards equality and inclusion, and strengthening knowledge of each other’s world view.

We understand that respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, lands, histories, cultures and languages underpins our core business activities and is integral to our Indigenous rights work.

As a predominantly non Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation our goal is to build and strengthen our cultural competency so that we can support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in their work for self determination and social justice.

We invite current Amnesty activists to a full day cultural competency training session with YARN Australia in our Sydney Action Centre.

There is a cost of $15 per person or $10 concession. This includes morning tea and lunch.

There are limited spaces. Interested people will need to complete an Expression of Interest by the 24 March 2017 .

Successful participants will be advised by 27 March 2017.
