Film screening of “For Sama” at Wallsend Library on three consecutive nights (Nov 10, 11 and 12) . There will be a discussion on the third night at 7:20pm after the film (booked separately). The event is being run by Newcastle Libraries in collaboration with Hunter Asylum Seeker Advocacy and Amnesty Newcastle. Numbers are strictly limited due to Covid restrictions and it is essential to book a place.

For Sama is an intimate documentary in the form of love letter from Waad al-Kateab, a 26 year old Syrian mother, to her daughter Sama recorded in the last days of the battle for Aleppo.

Capturing an epic journey into the female experience of war, For Sama, documents incredible stories of loss, laughter and survival as citizen – journalist Waad wrestles with an agonising choice.

Join us to view this first feature documentary by Emmy award-winning filmmakers Waad al-Kateab and Edward Watts and a facilitated discussion.
