Want to take action on human rights, but don’t really know where to start? Feeling overwhelmed by the constant news of human rights crises all around the world?

We’ve been challenging injustice since the 1960s, and a big part of why we can have the impact that we do is thanks to the work of our amazing activists and volunteers all around the country.

At our next ‘Get Active: Intro to Activism’ session we’ll be chatting about one of our biggest campaigns of the year Write for Rights. From humble beginnings as a letter-writing marathon held by activists in Poland, to now being one of the biggest human rights events in the world, Write for Rights is an amazing example of a campaign that demonstrates that when we work together the power of the people is greater than the people in power.

As always for our Get Active sessions, you’ll find out what it means to be an activist at Amnesty, hear about some great wins we’ve been able to achieve thanks to our people-powered movement and learn how you can get more involved with our Write for Rights campaign!

The Get Active sessions are relaxed and informal spaces open to everyone at any stage in their activism journey, including those who are new to the world of activism who haven’t had much experience taking action before. You don’t need to prepare anything for the session, all you need is a passion for human rights and an interest in connecting with others to take action against injustice collectively. If there’s anything we can do to make the Get Active session accessible for you (for e.g. having closed captioning or Auslan interpreters available) please let us know at communityorganising@amnesty.org.au.

This is an online event which is starting at 5pm WA time, 6.30pm NT time, 7pm QLD time, 7.30pm SA time and 8pm NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS time.
