For the past twelve years the Townsville Amnesty Action Group have hosted a songwriting competition at the Palm Creek Folk Festival. This year the event has been renamed the Townsville Folk Festival. More than 3000 people will attend the 2023 Townsville Folk Festival.
The Human Rights Songwriting competition gives attendees the opportunity to write and perform their own songs with a human rights message. The winners get to perform their song at the Festival closing event attended by all festival goers. We also have an Amnesty Information stall for the duration of the three day festival.
