To celebrate International Human Rights Day we invite you to a candlelight vigil from 7 pm- 8 pm on Saturday 10 December at the Gregory Street Amphitheatre on the Strand in Townsville.
The vigil is being held on behalf of people everywhere whose human rights have been abused. Amnesty members will be remembering the brave individuals from ten countries who are the subject of our Write for Rights campaign. We are also inviting representatives from the Free Julian Assange campaign, from the Iranian “Woman, Life, Freedom” campaign remembering Mahsa Amini who died in police custody earlier this year, and groups associated with the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence.
You are invited to bring candles, plus signs and photos related to the people and causes you are representing. There will also be some candles available at the venue.
